Welcome to Fashion YOUnik, my Fashions Page!!
Reaching out to the world thru this page and touching bases and faces and making my world bigger… Come and visit and leave me your comments. I am very interested in this world we all share and YOUR perspective on it. I sincerely hope you come and let’s be friends. Albeit online. That’s ok. My invitation is extended- let’s talk about our world and see if we can make it better. Only one caveat: be civil! !! I realize this Fashion YOUnik Blog is mostly “fashion”, and altho it is my pre-occupation at the moment, I am very passionate about other things that matter.

 

My name is Myrna and Fashion is my business. I got started on it early. It was not my choice, but it was, rather, ‘my’ society’’s choice. How is that? If you went to grade school with me, and grew up with me you would understand! Where I went- Girls, and I am one, have only 3 choices in “Life”, or more specifically, “Shop or Home Ed” courses: Cosmetology, Foods, Dressmaking. Blahh!! I would have gone for Econ 101!!

These pre-made choices followed me thru high school. Of course- it was still the same society. Since I just do not see myself primping up a lot of people manicuring or as they called it Cosmetology, that was out of the picture. I could have chosen Foods. But there wasn’t much Food to cook to start with so what good was that going to do me? Ok, I went for the only palatable, logical, (I try to use my brain once in a while!! choice I could have; Dressmaking!! Ahh– I might’ve heared the Elders approve! It would be a useful know-how as a wife to serve my husband and kids when/should/if, I got married. Oh yeah….the reasons of our justification! Wasn’t it wonderful?? But I didn’t want to get married darn it! Not at the time, not there, no-how! Nevertheless, I went on. At the same time I was in high school I was also getting my Certification in Fabric Technology, Dressmaking, Design and Pattern-making. That took care of the “creative” aspect of it for me. I must admit, I enjoyed it. Kudos to the Elders!!

Later, when I came to the US, I took Fashion Merchandising at a technical college and there’s where I got exposed to the business side of it. The numbers side of it. Finally!!

You name a job in the Fashion Industry and I’ve done it. From Designing, to Sewing, to Textile Tech, to full scale Mass Production, to Owner of a Brick and Mortar Dress/Tailor Shop. Now I’m online with my eBay Store Dicen Fun and Fashions Outlet, and my ProStores web store, Dicen Fashions Outlet. I am tremendously enjoying being an online shop owner! Why online? Because it’s ‘easy’, less overhead, more freedom. Told yah I’m practical.

At the moment I am in full swing work on my very own store Dicen Fashions Outlet, my, my very own!! LOL!
